Waiting on God (Dec. 1-29/19)

Our world is not o.k. Our country is not o.k. Our city is not o.k. What would it take to bring an end to the killing, to the hate that inspires the killing, to the systematic stripping of people’s dignity, to the justification of inequality, to the obsession with today’s comforts at the expense of future generations’ lives? What would it take?

It would take the presence of God Himself among mortals, establishing His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. It would take Jesus living and dying and living again. It would take the Spirit empowering, equipping, and transforming people into Jesus’ likeness. It would take this very thing that began in a stable more than 2,000 years ago.

In Advent we wait on God to conclude what He began so long ago.
