Awaiting God's Kingdom (Nov. 28 - Dec. 26/21)

The Bible is the story of God’s Promise. In short, it is God’s Promise that His Kingdom will come. The nation of Israel was established to be a portrait of this Kingdom. Jesus’ entire life was the embodiment of this Kingdom. The Church is intended to be the continuation of that embodiment. But, as we are only too aware, God’s Kingdom has yet to come in full. Over these Advent and Christmas weeks, we await the coming of God’s Kingdom. We await the time when these prophetic words will be realized:
“See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them;
they will be His peoples, and God Himself will be with them.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.”
(Rev. 21:3-4)
