This Sunday we’ll be celebrating Communion (sometimes called the Lord’s Supper) together.

Communion is a symbolic re-enactment of the last supper Jesus shared with his disciples immediately prior to his arrest, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection. You can read about those events here. During this rite, you will see bread and grape juice on a table, likely near the front of the worship space. The bread and juice symbolize Jesus’ death, point to his resurrection, and remind us that in his death Jesus defeated the power of sin and death over us. You are free to choose whether or not to participate in this rite; there is no expectation either way.
