On Sundays after lunch (which is provided) we are reading and discussing the book, Healing our Broken Humanity, by Grace Ji-Sun Kim and Graham Hill. If you would like to participate, please email our pastor and she will get you a copy of the book.
This Sunday, both small groups will be meeting together at the church after lunch. There will be no small group on Tuesday.
This Week: Recover Life Together
Please read chapter 9 (pages 152-172).
This chapter invites us into the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5 – 7) as an inspiring vision for the church. It may be helpful to read 2 sections of this chapter each day. For example, on June 24 read pages 152-158, on June 25 read pages 158-160 and so on. As you read through this chapter, consider the following:
1. Are there any sections/descriptors that resonate with me more than others? Why might that be?
2. Which of these descriptors do you see at Walmer?
3. Which of these descriptors would you like to see Walmer grow? How might we do that?
From the back cover
Our broken world needs healing and hope, and Jesus calls us to be a peace-making and reconciling people. But how? Grace Ji-Sun Kim and Graham Hill offer Christian practices that can transform society, from lament and repentance to relinquishing power, reinforcing agency, and more. Embodying these practices enables us to be the new humanity in Jesus Christ, so the church and world can experience reconciliation, justice, peace, and love.
